“Knights of the Y” Conduct Successful Campus Takeover

The BYUSA Elections may have been last week, but now, there’s no doubt who’s in charge.

The Knights of the Y, a campus organization known for its Tuesday night Live Action Roleplaying (or LARPing) began their takeover Monday evening after classes. According to eyewitnesses, the surprisingly large coalition of students, wielding foam swords, shields, and spears, marched from the Wilkinson Student Center towards the Abraham Smoot Administrative Building around 5:00pm. Any resistance was quickly subdued through a combination of swinging weaponry, war cries intermingled with voice cracks, and the lingering scent of LARP. By 5:10pm, the Knights had overtaken the campus police entirely.

“There were too many of them. I didn’t realize they were waving around foam swords until it was too late,” commented former head of BYU Police Josh Yancey.

Sources indicate that President C. Shane Reese is currently being held within his office. It is unclear if the insurrection was driven by any particular motive or was simply a show of power.

The majority of students aware of the change in leadership seem surprisingly indifferent. One of such students is Rob Collier, who was quoted as saying the following:

“I have two midterms this week, three papers due, and no time to care about who is holding who hostage. Huzzah, or whatever.”
