BYU Intramural Basketball Champions, ‘White Men Can’t Jump’, Narrowly Misses Out on NCAA Tournament, Settles for the NIT

‘White Men Can’t Jump’ had a historic run through the BYU intramural basketball scene as they blazed through their competition to secure the title. Boasting an average win differential of 45 points and going undefeated, many players on the team believed they were good enough to make it to the dance. Players such as Jammer Fred-Debt, Jack Emerson, Braydon Davies, Alex Barviolin, and CJ Haws headlined this dangerous team.

But to the surprise of many local and national fans, these intramural all-stars were not included in the big dance this year. ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ was labeled as one of the “First Four Out” after the official bracket was released.

“I felt like we were one of the best 68 teams in the country,” star point guard Jammer Fred-Debt told the Alternate Universe. “Did we have the toughest schedule? No. Did we have any signature wins? No. Were we even eligible for the tournament? Probably not. But did we put on a show for our fans? You betcha.”

“I was absolutely mystified,” Jay Bilas told the Alternate Universe. “You can’t tell me that these guys wouldn’t wipe the floor with Duke this year. Absolute Joke.”

Some players took the news better than others as fellow guard Alex Barviolin stated, “Hey, at least I still got a cool T-Shirt that I’ll definitely wear more than once.”

Despite not making the NCAA tourney, #1 ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ will play #16 BYU in the NIT tournament. They are expected to be a dominant favorite in the tournament and have an opportunity to make our university proud (for once).
