BYU announces first ever EFY for young single adults

For any young single adults who are missing the camaraderie, friendships, and fun they experienced as an EFY youth participant, a brand-new opportunity is coming this summer. BYU will be putting on the first ever Especially For Young Single Adults conference (EFYSA) in summer 2023.

The event is available to young single adults ages 18–30 and will take place August 16–19, 2023, in Nauvoo, Illinois. As part of the weeklong conference, attendees will also have a chance to visit the Nauvoo Temple and experience the spirit of historic Nauvoo and its Church history sites.

The newly created event—with the sites and history of the early Latter-day Saints as a backdrop—will have a more mature focus than the youth event in its group discussions and devotionals. But the EFYSA page explains that, in true EFY fashion, the week will still include a dance and variety show.

When asked how he felt about this new announcement, senior Noah Way weighed in with his thoughts.

“Wow! I never went to EFY as a teenager, but I’m grateful for the opportunity I have now to intentionally choose not to go again.”

While reactions have certainly been a mixed bag, one demographic has reported feeling overwhelmingly sidelined.

“This is another great example of the church discriminating against us,” says Madison Lee, a married person.

However you feel about it, only time will tell how well EFYSA will be attended.
