George Santos Claims Extend to Pioneer Heritage and More

Over the last few weeks, US House representative George Santos has had many details of his life revealed to be untrue. In addition to claiming Jewish ancestry and working at Goldman-Sachs, he has doubled down. Santos is now claiming multiple pioneer heritages and other LDS-related aspects of his life.

According to Santos, he had ancestors who survived the Mormon Trail as part of the Martin handcart company and had ancestors who died in the Willie handcart company. He also said over a dozen of his fifth cousins-eight times removed were murdered in the Mountain Meadows Massacre.

In addition, Santos at different times has claimed to be a descendent of:

  • Porter Rockwell
  • Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs
  • John Rowe Moyle the stonemason
  • King Lamoni
  • Levi Savage
  • Everyone in Legacy: A Mormon Journey

Many other claims have come to light over the past few days:

  • Santos claims to be the model used for the statues of Moroni that sit atop most temples.
  • Said he was in the room when Joseph Smith was shot.
  • On multiple occasions he has talked about seeing the gold plates and often refers to himself as “The Fourth Witness.”
  • Claims to have written “If You Could Hie to Kolob”
  • Has spoken about his talking donkey
  • Santos says he was originally cast in Kirby Heyborne’s role for The RM.
  • Just this morning it was revealed that Santos used to perform as Cosma Cougar in mascot competitions.

When further questioned, Santos said, “I never claimed to be a Mormon. I said I was Mormon-ish.”
