Where Are Some of BYU’s Most Famous Athletes Now?

When people think of BYU, they often think of academic excellence, soberness, religion, and just a sprinkle of polygamy. Due to the recent success of many athletes who have come out of BYU, our religious institution is slowly becoming known as an athletic powerhouse. Who else produces the sheer amount of skinny white guys who can run for long distances like us, huh?

As a result of this success, professional sports is littered with talented super-humans who proudly represent BYU’s athletic prowess. For example, NFL linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, Fred Warner, is widely regarded as one of the top defensive players in the game. Recent graduate Tyler Allegeier is showing his elite running skills for the Atlanta Falcons in his rookie.

But what about those who may been forgotten? What about those who have moved on from the limelight and have developed other interests? Here are what these former BYU stars have been up to…

Danny Devito: Actor

  • This former 3-time NCAA wrestling champion had a short career in the WWE before becoming an actor and starring in the TV show, “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”.

Jamaal Williams: Professional Nerd

  • After missing the entire 2015 season due to personal reasons, he became a professional nerd. Williams also plays football for a “football team” in Detroit.

Jimmer Fredette: NBA Legend

  • Fredette continued his magical college career into the pros by winning 14 straight NBA championships. Fredette holds the record for most points in a game as well at 189 points.

TJ Haws: ‘Dare Not to Swear’ Ambassador

  • After a very public and obscene outburst during a game, TJ pulled the ol’ Alma and the Younger and changed his ways. He tours Utah speaking on the dangers of profanity.

Zach Wilson: Contestant on “Milf Manor”

  • After flaming out of the NFL, Wilson took his talents to South Beach. The internet and mothers alike rallied around Wilson as he quickly became a fan favorite.
