BYU students in the College of Music have rejoiced over the new music building. The horrors of having to play in the decrepit HFAC are now behind them, and the music building will no longer be shared with the art students. It would seem to an outsider that all departmental political strife would have ceased, but for BYU students, this is unfortunately not the case.
The newly named KWMB has created controversy and confusion over the meaning behind its building acronym. With so many notable people blessed with the initials KW, how is one to know of the building’s true namesake?
“Long Live Donda Academy! Big ups to Brigham Young University for the sweet building,” stated Kanye West.
“I am truly blessed to be honored in the name of this monumental structure that will enrich the education of generations of music students,” said Kevin Worthen, president of BYU.
The Alternate Universe reached out to notable actresses Kate Winslet and Kerry Washington asking for their opinions on the building that had possibly been named after them, and received no response save for an “um, what?”
