“Thank Gosh-Darn it’s Sunday.” That’s for sure.
In a surprising turn of events, BYU announced a new edition to the four-star Michelin-rated Cougareat: “Thank Gosh-Darn it’s Sunday”. This spin-off of the somehow still-in-business “Thank G– It’s Friday” or TGI Friday’s, is set to open next month.
TGIS will be the first restaurant of its kind and the seventh installment of the TGIF brand. Current locations of TGIT and TGIW have already opened in the Utah Valley Area. The head of marketing for TGIF, Terrance Grant Ishmael Freeman, released a statement shortly after the news broke.
“Who doesn’t love Sundays? And you know the perfect way to blow off some steam after a long, exhausting Sunday? Slightly overpriced and slightly overcooked appetizers of course! Swing by after sacrament meeting and enjoy some delicious sin-filled food!”
Reactions to the news were mixed to be sure. Some students thought it was inappropriate and hypocritical to have an on-campus restaurant open on Sundays.
To settle students’ minds about the decision, BYU brought in a local food critic to offer his words about the new place for students to waste their Cougar Cash.
“I’m just glad I won’t be assaulted by that horrible synthetic bread smell every time I walk into the WILK,” Guy Ferrari told the Alternate Universe.
Well said Guy, well said.
