BYU Campus Missionaries Canvassing for Mike Lee in Midterm Elections

With midterm elections fast approaching, senator candidates Mike Lee and Evan McMullin are pulling out all stops in hopes of winning the race. While television ads, mailed propaganda, and pleas for campaign donations are all effective, Senator Mike Lee has stepped up his game with his new strategy of recruiting missionaries to campaign for him.

“I just really felt the need to get across that I’m the Lord’s candidate,” explained Senator Lee. Missionaries on campus have been happy to comply with the Senator’s wishes, and even say they find more success in political canvassing than in proselyting.

“We open every conversation with ‘Hi, would you like to hear an uplifting message about the candidate you should vote for next week?’” said Elder Jensen, a BYU campus missionary. “Then we give them a headshot of Senator Lee and his campaign promises, and invite them to vote next week. Most people actually say they’re going to vote for him, too.”

We at the Alternate Universe wish good luck to all candidates next week.
