It was perhaps the best rendition of “Lead Kindly Light” ever performed to date. As pillars of light rested upon the conference center this morning, saints all around the world were enlightened by the spirit.
The Tabernacle Choir hadn’t put on a full-fledged laser light show since 1889. According to Saints Volume 3, budget cuts constrained the choir from the production quality that they desired, so they opted to retire the performance altogether. However, this morning’s opening session revealed that to no longer be a problem.
“No one could’ve expected what the Tabernacle Choir had up their robes this morning,” said Elder Gong, still in shock.
“Is this type of stuff what the “general offerings” part on the tithing slip goes to?” asks 25-year-old half-active member Brigham Yeun.
Regardless of where the funds came from, most seemed to enjoy the show- so much so that the crowd actually applauded the performance afterward, making it the first applauded performance in church history.
What will the next sessions of conference have in store? Confetti cannons? Colored foam? More lights?
Perhaps only time will tell.
