New Study Shows Modesty Outlets Outnumber Mental Health Facilities in Utah

Utah- a state ranked 50th in access to mental health care and a population full of mentally ill people. But at least they’re all wearing square neck, puffy sleeve, knee-length floral dresses!

A recent study shows that modesty outlets have officially outnumbered mental health facilities in Utah, a reflection in how maybe retail therapy is the real cure.

We sat down with researcher and mental health specialist Dr. John Mortensen, who conducted the study. According to Mortensen, modesty outlets outnumber available therapists in Utah 14 to 1. A fact that Mortensen says “will buy you twenty church outfits before the cost of an average therapy session.”

“That’s why my degree from BYU taught me to just tell my clients to go to church instead,” he added.

To get the opinion of the other side, we also sat down with Janet Magleby, the Orem manager of one of the most popular modesty outlets, Downeast.

“We’re sorry if your melon is a little mushy, but maybe just try to think positive or ignore it like the rest of us?” said Magleby. “In the meantime, use code 2BAD4U at your local Downeast!”

Couldn’t have said it better.
