When news broke that WNBA Star Brittney Griner had been taken captivate in Russia, hearts across the nation went out to her. But no one has tried to do more than the President of God’s University.
President Kevin J. Worthen is an avid lover of the basketball. But somewhat surprisingly, his true love is the WNBA.
“I love watching the tall women. They are so skilled around the low post, it’s hard not to watch.”
So when recent news broke that the US Government had offered a trade package to Russia in exchange for the WNBA All-Star, Worthen had to throw his hat in the ring.
“I saw that ‘trade’ that Biden threw at Russia and I thought, ‘How pathetic? It’s time to send them an offer they can’t refuse.”
Russia refused the trade.
NBA Insider and local shaman, Adrian Wojnarowski, broke down the trade package in more detail on Sportscenter.
“Listen guys, Russia was interested in this trade. But sources tell me that trade talks deteriorated when Vladimir Putin pressed BYU about the number of first-round picks that were being sent back. Russia wants to rebuild for the future so in order for a trade of this size to go through, they needed to secure their future. Time will tell if talks between the two parties will start up again.”
Worthen has told the press that he will not stop pursuing this trade. He has told reporters that he believes this trade package is fair for all parties involved. When asked how he felt about his All-Star, Brad Wilcox, being sent away in the trade he said that “sacrifices must be made in order to bring Griner home.” Experts around the league believe this might be a way for BYU to get rid of Wilcox’s massive salary.
