During the spring/summer semesters as many students leave Provo for a much-needed break some may feel a sense of loss or emptiness. However, BYU student Kayliegh Jones has decided to fill the loss of her roommate with a ginormous Shrek shrine in her now private room. In an exclusive interview with The Alternate Universe she described her creative process.
“When my old roommate Brynlieghsa moved out she left me her Shrek poster. I decided to hang it up and put my Shrek crocs underneath. After that it continued to just grow and grow. Pretty soon it will consume me. I live in fear every day.”
She is not the only one who lives in fear. Her roommate Evielinda Carson has also expressed concern over The Shrine.
“I thought it was funny at first. But now The Shrine has made its way from Kayleigh’s room into the living room. I feel Shrek’s beady eyes judging me every time I scroll past Shrek to watch Gilmore Girls.”
Jeremy West, a local entrepreneur, has also taken interest in The Shrine.
“I see this as a potential marketing opportunity. We can sell pre-made shrines, or shrine starter kits, as you will. I already have 12 pre-orders for High School Musical.”
