In a delightful but unsurprising turn of events, BYU’s own The Daily Universe has decided to crown The Alternate Universe “Best Provo Publication” of 2021.
We, at The Alternate Universe, graciously accept this award and acknowledge the excellent taste of the journalists at The Daily Universe.
During the award ceremony Jacleighn Hutchinson, a journalist at The Daily Universe, explained some of the rationale behind this decision.
“The Alternate Universe is the number one place to get news in Provo. Their journalists are committed to reporting the truth, and nothing but the truth in their very factual articles.”
Her remarks were met with a robust round of applause.
However, not all were happy with this choice.
Michael Christianson, a writer at TWO magazine (which coincidentally, was listed as the number TWO best publication in Provo) shared his thoughts.
“This competition was obviously rigged. Our publication has been better than ever this year: our wedding ring advertisements are 20% glossier, our writers have come up with more date ideas than ever, and we have a 56% success rate of getting students engaged within three months of reading our magazine.”
However, The Alternate Universe has certified the fairness of the competition, as well as the fact that the writers at TWO are “sore losers,” and will be celebrating its new title of “Best Provo Publication” by giving its readers free access to articles for the remainder of the year.
