Last week, rock musician Neil Young removed his solo collection of music from Spotify. This was in response to COVID-19 misinformation being spread by The Joe Rogan Experience, a podcast owned by Spotify. Several other artists have since followed his example but this Alternate Universe correspondent had never heard of any of them and had too much homework to allow time to find out. So we’re just going to move on.
This morning, the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square announced that they will also be pulling their music off of Spotify. This was a heavy blow to the music industry as they have requested hits such “Consider the Lillies”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, and an a cappella star wars medley to be removed from the streaming service.
The Alternate Universe was able to sit down in an exclusive interview with Spotify CEO, Daniel Ek, to discuss this new development. “I’m going to be honest, this is a heavy blow,” Ek said. “Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, pshh we can get over it. But the Tab-CATS? I… just don’t know what we’re going to do…” Ek preceded to break down into tears and was unable to be consoled necessitating an early end to the interview.
The Alternate Universe also reached out to the controversial podcaster himself, Joe Rogan, to discover what he feels his chances are going up against the world famous Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, but he was unavailable for comment. His publicist, however, was found crying in a corner of a 7-11 incessantly chanting, “All publicity is good publicity, all publicity is good publicity, all publicity is good…”
