Ever received a mysterious extra nugget in one of your Cougareat orders? Or maybe your food kind of looked and smelled like there was the touch on an elderly person involved? Did either or both of these occurrences take place during the Fall 2021 Semester? Well if you are nodding your head concerningly- don’t worry! It’s just possible you were served by our very own President Kevin Worthen as he went undercover for the newest season of “Undercover Boss.”
CBS approached Worthen for an appearance on their award-winning reality series last March, to which Worthen happily agreed. It’s reported that show producers then asked Worthen which area of BYU reflected the highest evidence of poor management- to which Worthen then politely asked the University Communications team to scoot aside so he could point producers to BYU’s Dining Services.
It was the unlucky Wendy’s team in the Cougareat that would suffer the consequence. Producers began the transformation for Worthen to go from BYU president to BYU pauper: a sleek black wig, Axe body spray, studious glasses, and a pair of eyebrows- Kevin’s first!
Worthen was then given a fake name and identity as a Wendy’s associate. Fellow employees, including his new student manager, were thought to have no idea that the President of the University stood beside them in rank. Witness told The Alternate Universe otherwise.
“Almost immediately I knew,” admitted manager Jordin Hales. “He’d blurt ‘senior moment’ every time he’d make a mistake. And whatever they were trying to erase with that Party City wig, it was not working.”
According to paparazzi on the scene, Worthen insisted he wore his old employee uniform from the 60s, despite producers’ strong objections. All dolled up and ready to play kitchen, the undercover Kevin snuck over to give The Alternate Universe a quick comment during his first shift.
“Oh hello there, what is up my brothers?” the sixty-year-old-looking student employee said to us. “It’s me- uh- Devin. Devin Shmorthen. You got the TikTok? Haha yes, straight fire.”
Worthen then removed this wig for a brief moment, revealing the forehead sweat that could only come from a man forty years Devin’s senior. Admittedly, we were shocked.
“Just kidding, it’s me guys!” Kevin explained. “I’m going to get them good, huh?”
Now despite our journalistic duty to get the whole story, our reporters on the scene wanted nothing more at this point than to just end the conversation. So if you want to see the full results of Worthen’s little prank, you’ll just have to catch the episode on one of those hospital TVs or wherever it is they play “Undercover Boss.”
