When Trevor Rump finally mustered up the courage to ask out the girl he’d been staring at in the Cougareat for the last five minutes, he thought nothing could go wrong. He walked up to her, leaned against the table, and started spitting game he had been practicing in the mirror since his mission. He failed miserably.
“You seem really nice but I think it would be better if we were just friends. It’s not you, it’s me.”
This is what McKlenzington Arrington told the bold student when he interrupted her zoom meeting.
“Can we at least be best friends?” Trevor persisted. She responded with “Sure, bud.” That’s all he needed to keep his love alive.
In his failed mission, he was able to get her name and successfully found her Instagram a few minutes later. He turned on post notifications and for the next four months, he made sure that he was first one to both like and comment on every post. He was determined to win her back.
In his mind, he was slowly gaining ground until his plan came crashing down. On McKlenzington’s post just a few days ago, she posted a picture of her finger with a brand-new ring. In the post, her description read, “I can’t wait to marry my best friend!”
Those words bounced around in his head for what seemed like forever. “I can’t wait to marry my best friend!…I can’t wait to marry my best friend!…Best friend!”
Trevor felt betrayed, lost, confused, and very sad. He thought to himself, “how could she plan a date for their wedding, buy the ring, and fall in love with him without telling him?”
He decided to take a stand and message her on Instagram. Trevor decided it was finally time to put himself first. To quote his courageous message, “I am done with your games babe. After weeks of waiting, now you want to marry your best friend and didn’t even decide to tell me? We are done McKlenzington, I wish you all the best.”
Coldly and bluntly, she just responded with “Who is this?”
