“The Virgin Mariah Carey” to Star in Church’s New Musical Nativity

Two years ago, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints wowed audiences with the release of “The Christ Child”, a historically accurate telling of Jesus’ nativity. This year, in place of historical accuracy, the new nativity will aim for musical splendor.

To be released on the 24th of December, the nativity will star Mariah Carey as “the Virgin Mariah”. Since Mariah’s fame skyrockets (and perhaps only exists) during the Christmas season, the casting seemed to be a perfect fit. BYU student Carley Jenkins shared her thoughts about the new nativity with the Alternate Universe.

“So cool that Mariah is still a virgin.”

A sneak preview featured Mariah lip-syncing “All I Want for Christmas is You” to the newborn baby Jesus. It is rumored that in some songs, the whistle tones she lip-syncs hit frequencies that can only be heard by the animals in the stable.

Families of the church are already rearranging their Christmas Eve plans to view the special on BYUtv.

“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the birth of Christ,” says a mom from Draper.

Celebrities who are also rumored to be in the special include hot Nephi as Joseph, hot Joseph Smith as of all the wise men, and CGI Renesmee as the baby Jesus.
