Spotify’s Wrapped is one of the most anticipated social media crazes of the year. Millions of metalheads, rap-junkies, and Coldplay-Enthusiasts rejoice as they can share their “diverse” music taste all across social media. After Wrapped is released, Instagram is flooded with stories with everyone’s top 5 artists, top genres, and top 5 songs.
Although most people couldn’t care less about everyone else’s Spotify Wrapped, the Alternate Universe received some leaked information of a person you will undoubtedly want to see.
We received a DM late one night from a supposed burner account named @heffreyrjolland that contained screenshots of President Nelson’s Top 5 Artists and Songs from this past year. We are not sure how this account got these screenshots, but as the most trusted news source on the planet, we feel obligated to share it.
Without further ado, here are President Nelson’s Top 5 Artists:
#5 Taylor Swift
As an outspoken “Swifty”, Taylor coming up in the Prophet’s Top 5 is no surprise. When Taylor releases a new album, you already know President Nelson has it on repeat for the next two weeks.
#4 Coldplay
Our Prophet held true to the stereotype that all straight, white, land-owning males of this church love Coldplay. Let’s just hope that he is only listening to the good albums (anything after Viva la Vida is trash, don’t @ me)
#3 Beethoven
For someone with perfect pitch, this is no surprise. I would expect nothing less than a distinguished music taste from such a distinguished gentleman.
#2 Tabernacle Choir
Having the Tabernacle Choir in President Nelson’s Top 5 is like being asked to NCMO in Provo; it just goes together. Mack Wilberg should be extremely excited and honored to be so high up on Nelson’s list.
#1 Kanye West
Flying in way out of the left-field, as per usual, is the one and only Kanye West. Seemingly uncharacteristic for the president of our church, the Prophet was in the top 0.1% of listeners of Yeezus. We are only praying that we will now see Prez in a fresh pair of Yeezys next General Conference.
And here are President Nelson’s Top 5 Songs:
#5 “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” by Taylor Swift
When he doesn’t have enough time for the 10-minute version, President Nelson gets in the rerecorded version of the original single.
#4 “What’s the Buzz/Strange Thing Mystifying” by Yvonne Elliman, Murray Head, Ian Gillan, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ Apostles – Original Studio Cast, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice
Jesus Christ Superstar has been the favorite musical of our boy Russ ever since its release in 1970. He has even been known to be quietly sing “What’s the buzz? Tell me what’s-a-happening” while walking around Temple Square.
#3 “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” by Taylor Swift
Despite being released less than three weeks ago, Brother Russ has already listened to it 26 times.
#2 “Jesus of Suburbia” by Green Day
Almost nothing makes President Nelson happier than this uplifting tale from Billie Joe Armstrong. Rumor has it, Billie Joe will be singing it next year with the Tabernacle VChoir.
#1 “Photograph” by Nickelback
Coming in at #1 for the third year in a row, the Prophet loves this song more than anything. To him, it is the epitome of the importance of family history. He even encourages all to use it in their lessons on family history.
