Provo Voices: Is the Church Liberal?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced on Monday that they will be implementing recycling bins in all ward meetinghouses. The “stewardship bins”, as President Nelson fondly dubbed them, will “help return the earth to its paradisiacal glory.”

This announcement has upset many church members, most of whom live in Utah County. The Church has historically chosen to stay out of politics, and according to some, this is a step in the wrong direction. What do you think? Is the Church too liberal?

“I have no idea why the Church is embracing this socialist propaganda. I will continue to toss my cigarette butts in the parking lot, littering the earth the way God intended.”

Brindee Morgan – Activist

“As my Rock and Redeemer once said, ‘It’s about drive, it’s about power.’ I respect the Church’s grind. Whatever The Brethren set their minds to they can accomplish, fine by me.”

J.H. Johannson – Finance Gym Bro

“How do I feel about this? Well, I think that the Church has the right idea, but it is too… out there. Come back to center, Nelson. Your leftism is showing.”

Hank Sinatra – Wilkinson Student Center’s Resident Opera Star
