The dating app giant Tinder recently purchased the dating app, Mutual. Designed for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Mutual has helped many couples get married and/or have numerous casual make-out sessions in the parking lot of the Provo Temple.
Tinder wants to grow their brand and have dating apps for people of every kind. However, to maintain brand recognition, they have changed the name to Tinder Mercies. This new name references a 2005 General Conference address from David A. Bednar about individualized blessings. CEO of Tinder, Renate Nyborg, said, “This is a great opportunity for our new friends to find their own tender mercy in the form of a Provo All-Star, a homemaker, or anything in between.”
The format will stay virtually the same. Swiping will be up and down, there will be space to list mission service, and you can still put in as many quotes from the Office as you think will “help.” The only real difference will be color scheme.
There is no word yet whether or not users will able to swipe for members of the same or both sexes.
