Early this morning Cosma, spokesperson for both female and same-sex attracted students, bravely tweeted out “ : ( ” sparking a campus-wide discussion of mental health.
Official Cosma Spokesperson Ed Bennett was quick to confirm that the two-character emoticon was in fact Cosma making a bold and compelling statement.
“Cosma doesn’t actually speak, but I can assure you as her spokesperson and translator, that what she meant was heartfelt and groundbreaking.”
For the most part, student reactions have been positive.
“I guess the truth is, I also sometimes feel like frowning, and it wasn’t until I saw Cosma tweet that out, that I realized, maybe that’s okay,” said Thad Bradly, who is new to emotional intelligence.
Other students have said that Cosma has inspired them to book a CAPS appointment, reach out to a loved one, or finally stop writing poetry as a coping mechanism.
Spendcer Greyn did not feel as inspired, “You would never see Cosmo acting like this. The whole thing is just classic Cosma.”
To date, Cosmo has not put out any official statements regarding mental health, but there are rumors that the user @radcat101553, who liked the original tweet, is actually run by the original cougar.
Marielynn Lynmar had some helpful advice for the Cougarette, “Maybe if Cosma prayed harder and read the scriptures more she wouldn’t be feeling this way.”
