You may remember Studio C and Dwight in Shining Armor, but these shows have been canceled for being “too immature”. In their place, there will be new shows catered to the modern BYU student.
“We realized that many students find no interest in watching BYUtv, so we shifted our target audience from sheltered bubble people to the type of freshmen you see on BYU Barstool,” stated Rick Mortensen, producer of BYUtv.
Here are the shows that have started filming:
- Relatives Around Me – A series capturing those special moments when BYU students find out that they are dating their not-so-distant cousins.
- Hitch Perfect – A dating show between the outstanding a cappella groups, Not Worthy and Breaking Point.
- Girl of Great Price – A series reboot of the Sundance Film Festival award-winning all-white movie reboot of Johnny Lingo.
- Big Brother’s Keeper – A hidden-camera show about service and drama. Will they kill each other, or show a gentle heart?
- Creepy Spaghetti – A series of horror stories featuring nightmarish scenes. Such scenes may include accidentally drinking non-herbal tea or finding out your girlfriend has a second piercing.
- Insta Match – Although it is intended for social media, BYUtv will air it because it perfectly reflects the BYU experience.
- Cougar Game – Live stream the parking competition from the comfort of your own bed!
- BYU’s Next Hot Professor – Follow the Alternate Universe’s hottest religion professor competition from the perspectives of the baddies who are competing.
- As Real Housewives in Zion – From soccer practice to Relief Society lesson centerpieces, this gripping reality show takes place in the shadows of the all-seeing Y
Every single new show will premiere on Thanksgiving.
