Church recommends sacrament boosters for high-risk individuals

This morning in General Conference, President Russell M. Nelson recommended midweek sacrament boosters for high-risk individuals. “COVID-19 is dangerous, so we never know when it is our time to leave this probationary state. This increase in covenant renewal will better prepare us for what lies beyond the veil.”

Those who qualify for midweek sacrament boosters include anyone 65 or older, individuals aged 18-64 with serious medical conditions, and all who work in dangerous professions.

Professions that qualify include:

  • First responders
  • Teachers
  • Family Home Evening co-chairs
  • BYU Parking Police
  • Nursery leaders
  • Deacons Quorum advisors
  • People who edit movies from PG to G for BYUtv
  • Vivint sales reps
  • Wilkinson Center piano player
  • Congressional aide for Mitt Romney

Sacrament boosters will be administered at many different places, including Walgreens, CVS, and Subway. Deacons, teachers, and priests will be present to administer the boosters at each location. Places to get the booster can be found in the Member Tools app.

It does not matter if you have Bishop Johnson, Bishop Modero, or Bishop Pfeiffer. The efficacy of the sacrament is the same no matter who presides over your ward, except for maybe Bishop Johnson’s ward. He reportedly told the members of his congregation that they could take both the bread and the water at once. Results say that may only renew 65% of your covenants.
