The Saturday evening session of general conference has had several purposes over the years. Originally a session for Priesthood holders, and then alternating between women’s and priesthood sessions before the announcement that session was being discontinued was made in June of 2021. Just a month later, the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced that Saturday evening was back on.
“It will not have a specific theme, nor will it be intended for any particular demographic or leadership group,” said the letter from the First Presidency.
Since that announcement, there has been quite a bit of speculation about what the session will involve. Will it simply be another regular one? Will it focus on a specific topic or book of scripture? Finally, the church has announced the answer.
As a way of reviewing material from the earlier sessions and making sure everyone was paying attention, the Saturday evening session will be a very big, very long game of Kahoot.
Church leadership is in agreement that this is a very good way to spend the session, although there has been some conflict on the specifics of the game. It has been confirmed that when members join the game they will be given a randomly generated nickname with a spiritual theme, such as friendly liahona or holy shiblon, although this was not an uncontested decision.
“Randomly generated nicknames are so boring! It would be much more fun to let people select their own usernames,” commented President Uchtdorf while entering as many aviation-related words into the randomization system as possible.
The winner of the game will be mailed fabulous prizes, most likely a pack of Smarties and the CTR ring President Oaks found in the back of his desk.
