Steve Martin Opens Up About Being a “Famous Mormon”

Move over Ryan Gosling! A tell-all with former young men’s president and 5 time Grammy Award winner Steve Martin.

The Roxane actor said that he likes to keep his faith “low-key” as far as his public persona goes, but that it is ultimately at the core of all of his work.

“What is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, if not a piece highlighting the gospel principle of families?”

He added, “Not to mention, The Pink Panther is almost a perfect retelling of Nephi and his brothers retrieving the brass plates.”

Although many have dismissed his membership as an urban legend, it’s no secret at church headquarters. Spokesperson Nataliye Jones said that they were “well aware” that they had a member on the set of Cheaper by the Dozen and Cheaper by the Dozen 2. She added that, “we tried to book Brother Martin for the ‘I am a Mormon’ campaign, but we couldn’t afford his quote.”
