Last Wednesday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill approved by the Utah Legislature to make Utah the latest state to lift their mask mandate. But that doesn’t mean citizens can get away mask-free.
Many state leaders are still encouraging mask-wearing. Even Governor Cox himself said businesses can- and should- continue to require their workers and patrons to wear a mask.
But considering Utahns treat the law like a child with ADHD treats lego instructions, it’s unclear exactly what the future holds. A recent survey showed an alarming number of citizens were unaware that a legitimate mandate had been established since November.
“Oh, no more masks? I kind of thought that was always just a suggestion- like taking off your shoes at someone’s house,” said Utah resident Jordan Reid. “Huh! Well, hopefully I’ll never have to wear a mask again in my life!”
As a Pre-Dental student, Reid’s obliviousness will surely only continue. But he’s not the only student excited and looking forward to a maskless future.
“This is perfect timing,” remarked Kyle Hudson. “Right in time for hot boy summer and I’m almost on the brink of a near mustache. Can’t wait to NCMO all the vaccinated cuties.”
