The April General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints concluded with the announcement of twenty more temples to be built, including an additional temple in Utah. Most members around the world welcomed this announcement, but some began to feel left out.
“It’s hard to make it to the temple regularly, sometimes we have to drive 15, sometimes even 20 minutes to attend.” says Utah resident Carol Flanders. “I know they can’t have temples everywhere, but its beginning to feel like they’ve forgotten our little corner of the world.” Other Utah residents expressed similar opinions, comparing their arduous travel to the pioneers crossing the plains.
According to sources inside Church Headquarters, there is a plan in the works to add a temple to every Maverik gas station starting in 2025. Church leaders hope this will alleviate some of the stress felt by some Utahans.
