BYU Declares Every Weekday to be Tuesday Followed by Two Sundays

In an unexpected move, Brigham Young University announced that every weekday will now be a Tuesday and that every weekend will consist of two Sundays. “We realized that having more Tuesdays meant having more of what people really attend BYU for, the University Devotionals.” says BYU President Kevin Worthen “Following that up with back-to-back Sundays was a natural move as well.”

With the new expectation that all students now attend five devotionals and two sets of Sunday meetings every week, some worry about how students will balance their studies, jobs, and other obligations. While time commitments vary in different majors, most students spend between 4 and 175 hours every week doing homework, with marketing students on the low end and engineering majors making up the high end.

A group of BYU professors raised questions regarding how this new change will affect classes held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There has been no official response to this issue, but rumors are circling that MWF classes will be still be held if professors are willing to change their class schedules to reflect the proper days of the week. As best we can tell this means they will be held on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesdays of each week.
