Last year, Kansas City Chiefs head coach and BYU Alumni Andy Reid made headlines when he set his priorities straight immediately following his first super bowl victory,
“I’m gonna go get the biggest cheeseburger you’ve ever seen…The biggest one, might be a double.”
He promised to continue his tradition of a celebratory cheeseburger if the Chiefs were able to repeat as Super Bowl Champions saying, “Yes, I’m going to eat a double cheeseburger if that happens.”
But as we all saw on Sunday, Reid did not have such an opportunity. Instead, we found out what happens after a big game does not go Reid’s way.
Sources have told the Alternate Universe that Reid was caught devouring an entire tub of BYU Creamery’s famous “Graham Canyon” Ice Cream after their crushing loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“He had one of the old lockers be turned into a freezer just for his Graham Canyon,” Chiefs Snack Manager Chet Mix told the Alternate Universe. “You do not want to see him when he does not get his ice cream. He may look like a nice, cuddly teddy bear on the outside but everyone in this locker room knows to avoid him until he gets his Graham Canyon.”
Similar reports surfaced when Reid lost to Tom Brady in his first Super Bowl appearance as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. Rumor has it that Reid ate 24 Philly Cheesesteaks after the loss as a symbol of how many points they gave up in that game.
After slipping into a food-induced coma immediately afterward, Reid vowed to give up the cheesesteaks and return back to his college roots for his comfort food.
“By senior year, he had to call the creamery two days in advance just so they could properly stock-up on Graham Canyon,” Reid’s college roommate and best friend Chick N. Wings explained. “I kinda hoped that BYU lost every week just to see how many bowls he could eat in one sitting…it’s 15 by the way.”
