Earlier today Elder Quentin L. Cook posted a picture of himself for Halloween in a homemade murder hornet costume. They have reportedly been planning this for months and spent many hours every week acquiring the right materials and sewing them together. “When I first read about them I just knew I had found my costume for this year,” said Elder Cook. The Cooks consistently make costumes that are culturally relevant. Last year she went as World Cup-winner Carli Lloyd and he dressed up as Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
Elder Cook wanted the rest of his fellow quorum members to join him and create a swarm of murder hornets, but they all declined for various reasons. Elders Stevenson and Christofferson said they are planning on dressing up as the Astros’ trash cans, President Nelson said he intends on dressing up as Pope Francis, and Elder Uchtdorf said he was going as a pilot (again.)
The caption to the photo read, “Every year Sister Cook and I find great joy in dressing up for Halloween and taking our grandchildren out to trick-or-treat. Strengthening family relationships through wholesome activities is key to our happiness in this life. At our age, we obviously cannot go door-to-door with the little ones this year. In these difficult times, we have decided to make the best of a terrible situation. So in lieu of trick-or-treating, Sister Cook and I will be livestreaming a watch-along of the 1998 classic film, Halloweentown. We hope you can join us for this special occasion.”
