Honor Code Office and large crowd of students release ad calling for civil disagreement

Inspired by the Utah governor candidates who have recently released ads “calling for civility,” the BYU Honor Code Office and BYU students came together to release ads of their own, although they had a different message in mind.

Jim Year, a frequent honor code offender, made a statement explaining the purpose of their ads. “I know that I will never get along with the Honor Code Office. Let’s be real, I’m not allowed to have a beard or wear my muscle tank tops and it’s ridiculous. I know the governor candidates have called for civility, but at BYU, that will never be possible.”

The Honor Code Office received many comments and ratings for their department, many of them pleading for the HCO to “loosen up” and consider the worldwide circumstances. Those creating the ads called for Utah to rally behind them and create civil disagreement.
