The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints announced the beginning of the destruction of some of the less-frequently used temples in a press release on Monday morning.
“It’s all due to budget cuts, ok? The plan is to destroy them, and then rebuild them as mobile temples just because of…you know…2020.” said a spokesperson for the Church.
The announcement adds that no temple will be completely destroyed, but that journalists are welcome to use that language in any headline in order to generate more clicks that will motivate people to actually read the article in which they are referring.
The List of Temples to be destroyed is as follows:
- Provo, Utah
- Saratoga Springs, Utah
- Draper, Utah
- Pleasant Grove, Utah
- Lehi, Utah
The destruction is reported to begin immediately, assuming something else doesn’t get there first.
