First FHE of the Semester Rapidly Turns into Group Therapy Session

Last night BYU students were finally able to return to Family Home Evening after it was shut down all summer due to COVID-19. Grayden Tanner stated that he initially “didn’t have strong expectations” as he was attending a new ward in King Henry.

Tanner, however, was caught off guard when Zackary Benson, one of his group leaders, expressed to everyone that as their new FHE “dad” he already “loved them all very much.”

“I just started crying,” Tanner said, “I’ve been so isolated with all of this COVID stuff, and hearing that Zackary cared so much meant a lot.”

After Tanner’s outburst, the evening, which was originally supposed to be a “Jackbox games” sort of night, ended up turning into an impromptu therapy session, as they all agreed it would be “kind of weird” to not address the sobbing 20-year-old.

Sara Olsen, co-group leader, and self-proclaimed empath was reportedly glad to step up and designate her hydro flask as a talking stick. “It was so nice to have everyone share their deepest fears and insecurities,” said Olsen, “It felt just like being in Relief Society!”

Benson was less enthusiastic, saying that he was “just trying to break the ice.” and that he would have liked to “show off his mad Quiplash skills.”
