Manspread

BYU Student Thanks Pandemic for Allowing Him to “Manspread”

McCabe McKellar, a 21 year-old BYU student, posted a video tribute to COVID-19 on Instagram earlier today. In the tribute he thanked COVID-19 and the global pandemic for allowing him to manspread anywhere he goes.

He said that this crisis has changed his life for the better: “So many new opportunities have opened up for me! I can manspread on the bus, at airports, and even at home. Every couple weeks I just lie and tell my roommates that I was exposed to someone with COVID so that none of them sit by me on the couch.”

McKellar has been posting pictures of all the space he’s had in classes during the first week due to BYU’s classroom precautions. This continues his summer-long pattern of Sunday posts about the space he has to spread during church. Each post contains the hashtag “#ThanksCOVID.”

“I mean, honestly, I hope this pandemic never ends. I can’t go back to sitting so close to other people” he said at the end of his tribute. “I know this has been bad for a lot of people, but it’s been great for me. #Blessed”
