Although many people were surprised when Jodie Burrows was called as the Provo YSA 112 Relief Society President, Burrows was not one of them. She said on the topic “I was literally the only person in the ward over the summer.” Burrows said that her ward was even emptier than it is most summers, due to the sheer number of people who left due to COVID-19.
Burrows was considered an unlikely candidate as she had only moved into the ward in January and did not hold a calling during winter semester.
Longtime ward member Madelyn Greene weighed in, “Jodie seems like, really nice, but it’s kinda weird that she ended up with the position.” she continued, “Bishop Larsen and I are super close, so I almost regret spending the summer at my family’s lake house now, clearly he needed me here more.”
Bishop Larsen made a statement regarding his controversial choice, “All callings are made by revelation.” He added, “I fully believe that Jodie is just the person to lead the Relief Society at this time, or maybe that this calling is exactly what she needs at this time, or something like that.”
The new Elder’s Quorum President is expected to move in later this week.
