Y Digital is an elite group of 32 students among the 33,000 plus on campus. They are an Avenger-esque team that solves digital marketing problems for real clients that hire their services.
A Congressional Antitrust Hearing took place remotely on Wednesday morning. Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google appeared before congress to discuss issues related to how they are using data in their business practices to stomp out competition. However, no invitation was even extended Y Digital, whom many consider a “highly competitive group”.
“We are always honest in our dealings with our fellow man. No anti-trust law violations here. But an invite nonetheless would have been nice,” said Joe Leech, Y Digital Director.
Y Digital has not shown a single sign of wrongdoing since its inception. There would have been no feasible explanation for inviting them to the hearing, but that didn’t stop them from trying to attend.
They attempted to login to the congressional hearing and voice their concerns. Sophomore Y Digital intern Justin Thyme ended up getting through and convinced Tim Cook of Apple to say the opening prayer for the hearing. After his invocation they were immediately kicked out of the meeting.
A court order was sent the following day to Y Digital, ceasing all work with their 35 current clients.
