LDS Church Suspends Word of Wisdom Requirement For Remainder of 2020

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints released a statement that declared the suspension of Word of Wisdom for the remainder of 2020 early Wednesday morning.
The Word of Wisdom is a health code that requires members of the Church to abstain from alcohol, coffee, tea, and drugs.
“It’s been a tough year for so many reasons. We just think the Saints should take a little break for the rest of the year,” said Jack D. Daniels, a representative for the Church’s PR department.
The statement has been met with some criticism from members and non-members alike.
“I’ve never seen business this good! My business is flooded with money!! How am I supposed to keep up with this??” said Buddy Lite, owner of the Tavernacle bar in Salt Lake City.
“Judging my neighbors for drinking Diet Coke just isn’t going to be fun anymore,” said Church member Grey Guse.
In response to these criticisms, Jack D. Daniels responded “Nothing goes better with corona than Corona.”
Overall, though, it seems that most Latter-Day Saints are taking the statement well. The lines outside most Utah County liquor stores are brimming with Saints all echoing the same phrase:
“I’ll take one alcohol please.”

  1. could you please provide with the link to the church website about this statement?

  2. It’s because I cannot seem to find the statement by myself, on the office church website.
