Long Lost Son Found after Fifteen Years in Provo Drainage Gutters

Friday morning was a scene of elation at the Carter household. Chris Carter, the family’s oldest son, was found alive, deep in the recesses of the Provo gutters, after his disappearance in Spring 2005.

Chris was found by recreational spelunkers rappelling into the gutters early Friday morning.

“We go diving in the gutters like at least once a month. They’re the deepest caves in Utah,” said one spelunker. “But we’ve never seen anyone else down there, until this guy that is. I was freaked out honestly. It’s pitch black except for our head lamps, and all of a sudden this guy wearing nothing but a loin cloth jumps out of the darkness. His hair and beard were so long I thought it was like a cave ogre or something. But then he started speaking English to us and we calmed down.”

“We got talking to him, and when he asked if Star Wars III was any good, I figured he must have been down there a while. I was especially heartbroken to have to be the one to let him know about the Disney sequels.”

We talked to Chris to hear his side of the story:

“I was supposed to graduate in 2006. One Friday night, I couldn’t find parking in my building’s lot, so I had to park on the street. I was tired and not really paying attention to my parking job. I felt like a jerk and could tell my tires fell into the gutter. Then I was swallowed whole and I just kept falling. It’s a miracle I survived the fall. I had a pack of ramen in my car which has kept me alive these past fifteen years. I’m just so happy to see my family again.”
