BYU Outraged at Oscars’ Snub of ‘The Other Side of Heaven 2’

The Academy Award nominations were announced on January 13th, much to the dismay of thousands of BYU students. Across campus, a battle cry could be heard, all on behalf of The Other Side of Heaven 2.

The film is a sequel to the Disney-produced The Other Side of Heaven in which a missionary goes to an island nation before he marries Anne Hathaway.

I just really thought this was our year,” said Emma Klein, a sophomore studying media arts.  “The Other Side of Heaven 2 was definitely the best movie I saw this year.” Klein also stated that is was the only movie she saw this year, because it was the only movie she was allowed to watch.

Marcus Janis, a junior studying advertising, said that he has never paid much attention to the Oscars because the films are always PG-13 or R, but he did watch the ceremony when Disney’s Up was nominated for Best Picture in 2010.

“After I saw The Other Side of Heaven 2 at FHE, I knew that there was something special going on here. It’s weird to me that the Academy wouldn’t have considered it. I guess they’re too busy going to the Telestial Kingdom for watching Joker,” said Janis.

You can stream The Other Side of Heaven 2 on that weird LDS streaming service, probably.
