Utah residents were conflicted last Saturday when Kanye West performed in Salt Lake City at the same time as General Conference.

“I just wasn’t sure which to go to. My two favorite artists, The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and Kanye West, were performing at the exact same time,” said BYU Student Kimberly Smith.

Smith wasn’t the only one. Many members of the Church were unsure which event was the right one to attend. Little did they know, both were condoned by President Russell M. Nelson. The Alternate Universe has learned from an anonymous source that West’s mini-concert was designed in efforts to promote the upcoming General Conference Bicentennial.

According to the source, President Nelson has been reading tweets about West and saying “It’s all part of my plan!” while walking around the Church Office Building.

The source also says that West will release a Latter-day Saint-themed album and will perform at the mysterious April session of General Conference. The album, based on West’s previous hit record “Yeezus,” will feature remixes of his hits, but with Latter-Day Saint themes. Songs will include lyrics like “He ain’t nothin’ but a gold plates digger” and “You’re such a child of God, I love it.”

Representatives for Kanye West declined to comment on this story, as they are too busy reading the Book of Mormon.
