BYU Coach Turns to Tithing to Beat the Utes

It’s been a difficult stretch for BYU football fans when it comes to their rivalry with the University of Utah. Eight straight losses to the team from up north have put a sour taste in the mouths of many Cougar fans. However, new hope may be on the rise with promising quarterback Zach Wilson and a bold new strategy from head coach Kalani Sitake.

In an exclusive interview with The Alternate Universe, coach Sitake issued a stern warning to the state rival Utah Utes that they are “biblically obligated to let BYU win at least once every ten years.” He hopes that this new appeal will force the Utes to let BYU win either this year’s or next year’s game.

“It isn’t the most orthodox approach, but I feel that a good coach will always be on the lookout for ways to give his team an edge, even if that means guilt tripping your opponent into giving you a win based on the Law of Tithing.”

Sitake’s strategy may seem familiar to some fans. Comparisons will likely be drawn to his earlier attempt to convince the Utah State Aggies to let BYU win a recent game in Logan on the grounds that Leviticus 19:33-34 forbids the mistreatment of visitors.
