Major changes to the campus at Brigham Young University were announced by President Kevin J. Worthen at a press conference this afternoon, following the Saturday morning session of General Conference.
“The goal of these changes is to remind students of what we at BYU believe were the Golden Years: the 1950’s. The Honor Code Office is already doing a wonderful job of keeping students’ behavior on par with 50’s standards, so why shouldn’t the rest of campus match?” said Worthen.
Changes will include separate bathrooms for various ethnicities, anti-Russian core classes, and will require all women to change their majors to either Home Economics or Family and Consumer Science.
“This is just what this university and its students want and need. Here at the Honor Code Office, we have a motto that we live by, which is ‘Don’t Fix It Even If It’s Broken.’ The 1950s are a perfect example of that and so is the Honor Code.” said Dan Johnson, a representative from the Honor Code Office.
New dress code standards were also announced. Men should wear suits and ties when on campus, and women should wear skirts that go down to the ankles. Any student found in inappropriate dress will be dismissed from the school and will heretofore face capital punishment: never getting married.
The shift is set to happen on May 1, 2019.
