Former BYU basketball deity Jimmer Fredette has officially signed a contract with the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. His Eminence had been playing with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association where He worked miracles as league international MVP and led the league in scoring for the 2016-2017 season.
The deal is for two years with a team option for the second year when they inevitably decide to bring the world-class scorer from the heavens back to further grace the state of Arizona with an unending stream of 8 point games on 3-of-9 shooting as well as slightly below average defense.
Fredette’s brightest moments are still remembered fondly by the totally impartial and rational BYU sports fans. “I named my first daughter Jimmer after he scored 47 against the Utes.” Says Provo resident Jocelyn Fables, “I just know He’ll change the league; we’ve been waiting for Him to get a fourth chance to prove Himself on the big stage.”
His professional career in the NBA was not quite as illustrious, averaging 7 points per game. “I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect Him to come out and match His career high 24 points every game next year,” predicts noted Jimmer fanatic Kevin Durant, “In fact I once tweeted that He is the best scorer in the world.”
