Students from all over have been flooding the App Store this morning to download a revolutionary new game which promises to reward its users for completely ignoring any surrounding carbon-based lifeforms. Critics are already praising “ScreenFocus” as one of the defining apps of our generation, and a multi-million user fan base seems to agree.

The app’s premise is a simple one. Tapping the bland app icon will immediately immerse your device’s screen in black. Players are then to blankly stare at the screen intently in silence for as long as they can. Although the task may seem easy at first, players are constantly challenged by their friends, neighbors, and colleagues surrounding them throughout the day who would do anything, it seems, to keep them from winning.

The app’s point system is still being perfected, and there has been some criticism over the fact that no part of the app will display how many you’ve earned, but developers suggest that maybe you’ll accumulate points in a variety of ways. Points can be used later to purchase a number of valuable rewards. The developers have hinted at the idea that upon reaching certain increments of points, you’ll feel a deep sense of satisfaction with what you’ve accomplished. You’ll feel as though you’ve done something important. It’s still unclear, but points may also be able to be put to use in giving you the smug feeling that you’re better than other people, especially others who are also playing SceenFocus. If earning points is taking a little too much time for you, there is also a feature which lets you pay real money for them. Developers promise virtually the same rewards for using these purchased points.

While some are fully immersed in the new gaming experience and loving it, others are already looking forward with excitement to the next chapter in the ScreenFocus series: ScreenFocus 2. Our sources confirm that it will be open for free download on the App Store starting tomorrow morning.
