Bootleg Zoom Recordings Being Sold On Flash Drives

As classes at BYU have transitioned online, many professors are not allowing their lectures and classes to be recorded through Zoom. This forces many lazy students to find alternative ways to skip their classes and still view them at a later time. Reports have been circulating that Zoom recordings are being sold to students on USB flash drives. These bootleg recordings are being sold on the black market for a high price.

We talked with one of the dealers, who wished to remain anonymous, and he had this to say about his business ventures. “I learned the basic business steps in my PYRMD 209 class this semester and thought this was a great opportunity to put my skills to the test. I really don’t know why these kids buy them though, since they still don’t bother to watch them anyway.”

Business may suffer with the recent announcement of pass-fail grades. The dealer said, “My income may start to fall since most of my market are the kids that spend more time trying to get out of their school work. Now that they have an easy way out this semester, I don’t see why they wouldn’t take it.”

If you would like to reach dealers regarding your class recordings, you can contact them at zoombootlegs@gmail.com. They can be dropped off in person, via Uber Eats, or in the mail (yes, this count as mail fraud).
