BYU Store Mannequin Announces Campaign for BYUSA Presidency

BYU Store Mannequin “Manny” announced his bid for the highly esteemed BYUSA president position earlier this morning in a surprise campus press conference. The 7 students following this election closely are already calling Manny the “dark-horse candidate” of the race on account of his super fun personality and carefully selected campaign phrases.

“Up to this point I was really feeling inspired by the words ’embrace tradition’ that I read on one candidate’s banner. But when Manny was placed in front of the mic and stood completely resolute for 5 minutes I knew BYU had the chance to do something really special.” said Manny’s newest supporter Jill Keller.

Sources confirm that Manny wasn’t originally planning on entering the race, but had a last-minute change of heart when he realized that it was possible to get elected without saying or doing much at all. A campaign staff of supportive mannequins and BYU store employees quickly came together to propel Manny into the public eye.

“Well, yes, we do have to do pretty much everything for him. Isn’t that what true leadership is though? Manny is the ultimate delegator.” explains campaign manager and BYU store clerk Harold Smith while helping Manny put on the campaign t-shirt, “People love Manny because of how transparent and easy to understand his slogan is: a vote for me, is a vote for my resume.”

When Manny isn’t out campaigning you can find him relaxing in BYU swag at the campus store. Although we were unable to get a direct quote from him, his sense of school pride and consistent stance on literally everything is apparent from the very first time you see him.

Those interested in becoming involved in the campaign can stop by the BYU store and try to talk to him. Voting begins on Wednesday, March 4.
