10 Great Things to Do on BYU’s Spring Day

It’s finally here! The best day of the BYU school year! A welcome break for hardworking students and faculty. Some find it a little overwhelming planning how to fill an entire 24 hours of extra time, so here are some suggestions from your friends at The Alternate Universe.

1) Do Homework

Why not use this extra time to get ahead or maybe catch up on past assignments? It’s not like you really have fun plans anyway.

2) Drive halfway to Las Vegas

Taking a trip to halfway between Provo and Las Vegas is a great way to get out with friends and experience the thrill of the American highway system!

3) Unfollow all friends with actual spring break

Some of us have friends with more “conventional” week-long spring breaks. We all know we don’t need anything that indulgent and sinful, so block out the distraction by unfollowing them on social media.

4) Go to work

Get some extra hours in at work to help finance your next Amazon Prime impulse buy! Plus, if you have to work every Friday, they’ll fire you if you don’t go.

5) Register for fall classes

Who wants to wait until the last minute to get their schedule figured out? Take some time and get that straightened out now so the sense of impending doom regarding your upcoming classes can set in early.

6) Watch all the “Rocky” movies

With eight full-length films in its collection, you can basically spend the whole day enjoying the mumbling greatness of Sylvester Stallone’s classic underdog story. (The new ones have Michael B. Jordan in them, so if you want you can just watch those for the eye candy.)

7) Read “The Alternate Universe”!

We’re friends, right? So even if we don’t know each other personally, it’s like you spent the day with your friends. Even though all of your actual friends went to Arizona without telling you.

8) Use electricity to celebrate Bolivian Electrical Workers Independence Day

It’s easy! Just plug something into a wall socket to show solidarity with our brave Bolivian brothers and sisters who work so hard to supply their country with electricity.

9) Hike a mountain and realize it’s still too cold to be up there

C’mon, there is still too much snow to go hike any of the mountains around here. That’s obvious.

10) Call your grandparents

I’m sure they’ll be happy to hear from you. Unless they don’t like you, which is pretty rare. Then you probably shouldn’t.

We hope our suggestions help make your Spring Day a thoroughly memorable and enjoyable experience.
